Mortars and castables

Castables are an ideal alternative for brick - and pre-fired shape linings. It is a fast and easy to apply product and also in many occasions a cheap maintenance alternative. However the critical part is that the mixing instructions should be followed very thoroughly as well as the drying cycle, to avoid hair cracks.

Insulcon can provide castable mixes air setting or ready-mixed (wet), we supply the low grade alumina/silica mixes but also the high grade hydraulic setting dense fused Mullite grades and the dense tabular alumina grades, applicable up to 1800°C.

The variety of mixes and qualities are immense and only with the correct application information we can offer our customers the final grade. Refractory mortars are available in heat setting and air setting mixes. The heat setting mix needs a high temperature to develop a ceramic bond, the air setting mix obtain strength at rather low temperatures after drying out.

For high temperature brickwork we recommend mortar grades almost similar to the

pre-fired brick grades Of course we also have available ramming mixes, embedding

mixes, washes and coatings.
