Blankets

High performance, high temperature insulating blankets

Our range of lightweight blankets are manufactured from refractory ceramic (Fiberfrax), low biopersistent (Insulfrax and Isofrax) and Polycrystaline (Saffil) fibres and provide effective solutions to a wide spectrum of thermal management problems. Blankets are available in several densities (like 64 kg/m3, 96 kg/m3, 128 kg/m3 and 160 kg/m3) and in several thicknesses (see technical datasheets and other thicknesses / sizes may be available on request subject to minimum order requirements) with an insulation temperature up to 1600°C! We also have a wide variety of special fibre blankets.

Our blanket insulation program exists of:

Insulfrax / FyreWrap / Fiberfrax / Isofrax / Fibermax / Saffil

Typial applications are:

  • High temperature furnace and kiln linings
  • Boiler insulation
  • High temperature gaskets and seals
  • Pipe and duct insulation

Next to this range of standard blankets, all blankets can be die-cutted according to your specific wishes, using computerized die-cutting machinery.

Insulfrax®

Insulfrax® LTX™ Blankets are the latest addition to the Insulfrax product range. Insulfrax® LTX™ offers the same benefits as previous Insulfrax® blankets, now with their physical properties enhanced to improve both thermal performance and handling. These lightweight needled blankets combine innovative proprietary technology with Insulfrax® proven performance to create the best low bio-persistent Insulfrax® blanket available from the Insulcon Group today.

Insulfrax® LTX™ blankets, with a classification temperature of 1200°C, are manufactured from alkaline earth silicate (AES) wool, and provide effective solutions to a variety of thermal management challenges.

Insulfrax® 1300 HT Blanket products represent the next generation of low bio-persistent (LBP) thermal insulation. This new innovative product combines superior thermal performance with enhanced operating temperature capability. Insulfrax® 1300 HT Blanket, a lightweight needled blanket, is manufactured using proprietary fiberization techniques, offering both a 1300 degree classification and a use limit temperature in applications up to 1200°C.

The FyreWrap® LT Blanket provides structural insulation for a variety of fire-resistant divisions on naval surface ships. It is specifically designed to withstand the severe conditions of a hydrocarbon fuel fire, and limits fire penetration and heat transfer structural division. Thin, lightweight systems combined with a flexible product form result in lower installation costs and significantly reduced system weight. FyreWrap LT blanket has a classification temperature of 1200°C.

FyreWrap® Cable Insulation is a thin, flexible insulation wrap designed to provide a fire-protective enclosure around cable trays and conduits. The FyreWrap® system ensures electrical circuit integrity during exposure to an external hydrocarbon fire, permitting continued operation or controlled shutdown of critical equipment during emergency conditions. This system is FM Global Approved and meets ASTM E-1725 “Fire Tests of Fire-Resistive Barrier Systems for Electrical System Components,” the newest industry standard, requiring the highest level of performance for trays with zero to full cable loading.

The system also meets ASTM E-1529 and provides circuit integrity ratings. FyreWrap® complies with many industry specifications on fireproofing for petroleum and petrochemical processing plants. FyreWrap® Cable insulation includes 50 μm aluminium foil for weather resistance.

Fiberfrax®

Fiberfrax® Durablanket® S insulation, with a classification temperature of 1250°C, the flagship of the Durablanket product range, is a strong, lightweight, flexible needled blanket that is made from spun ceramic fibres. Available in a wide variety of thicknesses, widths and densities, Durablanket® S insulation provides an array of proven solutions for the broadest spectrum of applications.

Fiberfrax® Durablanket® Z insulation extends the high-temperature performance of the Durablanket® product line. The product, with a classification temperature of 1400°C, is made from high-purity alumina, zirconia and silica spun ceramic fibres. This chemical composition, manufactured in a unique fibre-making process, provides Fiberfrax® Durablanket® Z insulation with extremely low shrinkage characteristics at elevated temperatures.

Isofrax®

Isofrax® 1400 Blanket is the first 1400-degree classified LBP (low bio-persistent) thermal insulation from the Insulcon Group, and the result of ongoing research and development efforts by Insulcon Group to produce an insulating blanket that has the high-temperature performance characteristics required in many applications at temperatures up to 1300°C. In addition to higher temperature resistance, Isofrax® 1400 fibre has high solubility in simulated body fluids and hence carries no hazard classification, meeting stringent European regulatory requirements.

Saffil®

Saffil® Blankets, made from Saffil® Alumina fibres, are high-temperature, lightweight, needled blankets manufactured from high-purity polycrystalline fibre with a polypropylene carrier to optimise strength and flexibility.

Saffil® Alumina Fibres are high-purity polycrystalline fibres designed for use in applications up to 1600°C. Since their development in the early 1970s, Saffil® fibres have been used successfully to solve problems in demanding high-temperature insulation and many other speciality applications.

Saffil® fibres are produced by a unique solution extrusion process that ensures the highest levels of chemical purity and lowest possible levels of shot content (non-fibrous particles).

Fibermax®

Fibermax® Blankets are high-temperature, lightweight, needled blankets manufactured from polycrystalline mullite fibre that can be exposed to temperatures up to 1600°C. Fibermax® Blankets are completely inorganic and so retain their strength, flexibility and thermal properties in many working environments, without the generation of smoke or fumes.

Available in a range of density and thickness combinations, Fibermax® Blankets can be used in a wide variety of applications. They are especially suited to environments where the presence of 'shot' (unfiberised particles) is undesirable or where resistance to corrosive agents is essential.
